Jones Lang Lasalle contacted the chosen venue two months before the event.
The clients attending were all female, travelling from various parts of the UK. The key objective was to create a good networking environment at an appropriate venue.
It had used Thermae Bath Spa in Bath for a charity gathering in 2010, so approached it again with a view to hosting a one-day event that would combine a formal business approach with an upmarket, but more informal, incentive element. "We wanted a venue that was nationally recognised and would do a professional job," says Jones Lang Lasalle director Clare Kelly.
"They knew exactly what they wanted, even down to specific cakes at afternoon tea," says Katie Sandercock, sales and marketing executive at Thermae Bath Spa. "There was also a DVD showcase at the networking lunch, so we asked them to come down a day early to ensure that preparation was exactly as it should be."
The attendees convened at midday in the Source Room for a presentation and buffet lunch. Following a networking session, they had an afternoon to enjoy the spa's rooftop pool, thermal baths and aromatherapy steam rooms. The event was rounded off with afternoon tea.
Post-event analysis: "It suited the guests perfectly," says Kelly. "I think people appreciated that (the event) didn't involve rugby or golf." Feedback from attendees began coming in the following day, and reflected a positive impact.
