Centaur Exhibitions has appointed AIBTM project director Steve Knight as exhibition director of its inaugural The Meetings Show, which makes its debut in July 2013.

Knight, who has worked on Reed Exhibitions’ AIBTM since 2010, joins the Centaur team in April.

The Meetings Show was launched on the first day of this year’s International Confex, a move that the latter’s Jonny Sullens described as "disappointing".

Centaur claims that the show will feature 1,000 fully-hosted buyers, international attendees and exhibitors.

Andrew Evans, Centaur Exhibition’s managing director, said: "We are creating a show run by meeting professionals, for meeting professionals and the appointment of Steve is a perfect illustration of this.

"He brings with him a wealth of experience plus the credibility and respect he has built in his 15 years of involvement in this industry."

Knight added: "Centaur’s decision to launch a hosted-buyer-led meetings show has come at the perfect time for an industry looking to achieve maximum value from marketing, meeting and education budgets and time."

Before joining Reed in 2005, Knight worked in the business travel arm of Visit Britain.
