The event, which will run from 3-6 December, 2012, is expected to attract more than 1,000 delegates and exhibitors from across the globe and will focus on two themes – human rights and health and hygiene.

SATO founder Alfie Heeger said: "It’s a great honour for us to host this conference but we want to make it more than just about a summit in South Africa. The problems facing people Africa will feature prominently on our agenda."

Janine Meyer, managing director of the bureau, added, "The winning of this event is so important to both South Africa and Africa. Many African delegates who have not had the opportunity to attend these international conventions, due to budget constraints, will now be in a position to support and attend the Durban Summit."
