Today sees the launch of the congress's preliminary meeting, which will be attended by key stakeholders. It includes a reception at the Town House, dinner at Fyvie Castle and a meeting at the AECC.
The congress, which runs from 10 to 13 September, is expected to attract 1,000 delegates.
Brian Horsburgh, AECC's managing director, said: "It is wonderful that the preliminary meeting is taking place this week. It allows the organising parties the chance to familiarise themselves with the fantastic opportunities in the north-east of Scotland, as well as the chance to develop the congress continuing the quality reputation The World Heavy Oil Congress upholds."
