Kempinski to re-enter Latin America with Panama property

Kempinski Hotels has announced its re-entry into Latin America with plans for a property in Panama, scheduled to open in 2015.

The luxury hotel group has signed a management contract for a new resort in Colón, currently under development by Two Oceans Group on the Caribbean coast, near the town of Portobelo on the Northern Isthmus of Panama.

Situated in a natural reserve, surrounded by rainforest, the beachside resort will feature 106 luxurious rooms and suites – all with ocean views.

A further 75 Kempinski Residences are planned from which 40 are directly located at the sea alongside an extensive pool and spa area, water sports facilities, restaurants and boutiques.

As part of its long-term growth strategy in key destinations, Kempinski now has an active pipeline in the Western Hemisphere, including projects in Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Rio de Janeiro.
