Aspers casino attracts 'significant' event enquiries in Olympics build-up

Aspers - the 24-hour 'super casino' at the Westfield Stratford City shopping centre in London's East End - has exceeded its attendance forecast and welcomed over 75,000 customers during its first fortnight of trading.

The venue, whose opening was welcomed by London & Partners, said it had also received a "significant" number of enquiries for its event spaces, some of which overlook the Olympic Stadium.

It added that the 75,000 attendance figure is three times higher than expected.

As a result of the better-than-expected demand, the venue is hiring an additional 30 staff, taking the total number of jobs created to 470.

Richard Noble, Aspers Group's chief operating officer, said: "The level of attendance and quality of the feedback from our customers since we opened reaffirms to us that there is a real demand for our product in Stratford.

"Aspers is now an integral part of the event and entertainment offer within Westfield Stratford City, providing guests with a stylish and fashionable alternative to the traditional West End."
