The Geneva-headquartered group’s Scandinavia business is currently focused on congress management and destination management and it set up a meetings and events department four years ago.

Its purchase of Imagine, which will become part of MCI Scandinavia, will bolster its meetings and event production credentials in the region.

Imagine chief executive Oscar Gillström will join MCI as director of meetings and events of MCI Scandinavia, while Marcus Östlundh will continue to head up the business’s corporate division and DMC service.

Polo Looser, MCI’s area vice-president, said: "Strengthening our meetings and events offering to complement our already strong teams in PCO and DMC allows us to create an integrated company and take a major step in reinforcing MCI’s position to be recognised immediately as a top player in the meetings and events market in Scandinavia."
