Mercer and British Council wins boost Universal World Events Asia office

Universal World Events' Asia office has grown its headcount in the last six months on the back of new client wins including HR consulting firm, Mercer, the UK international cultural relations body, the British Council and three leading pharmaceutical companies.

The Hong Kong office has moved to larger premises to accommodate the growth, which includes the appointment of Gareth Gallagher – who was seconded from the UK office at the beginning of the year but will now remain in Hong Kong – as account director, Rachel Cheung as project manager and Kaman Ng and Leilani Chan as project executives.

Business director James Thompson has also been seconded to Asia to help develop the office’s existing client list, increase the team further and to concentrate on new client development.

"The Asian market is going to become increasingly important in the years ahead and it is vital we are able to take advantage of the growing opportunity," said Thompson.

"We are thrilled at these new business wins, especially as they have come from both our target sector of the pharmaceutical industry as well as new sectors."
