The app, which is free to download at the iTunes App Store, provides information in English and Chinese (traditional and simplified). The app is currently only available for Apple’s iPhone, although the venue said an Adroid version will be launched shortly.
Users can search the app by date, event type and keyword and then add the event to their iPhone calendar.
The software also includes a ‘Transportation’ function giving users direction to the centre; a ‘Where to Eat’ function, which lists the restaurants at the HKCEC and shows their locations; an ‘Announcements’ section providing real-time updates; and a ‘Floor Plan’ of the centre.
Monica Lee-Müller, managing director of HKCEC management company HML, said: "We are proud and excited to be one of the first exhibition venues in the region to offer this new communication channel.
"This new initiative is part of HML’s commitment to continuously enhancing our services, and caters directly to the increasing population of smartphone users in Hong Kong and worldwide."
