The conference will include topics to help determine how the sector will steer itself through the current economic difficulties and stimulate growth in the long term. Among the topics to be discussed will be a review of the global and regional economic factors affecting the hotel and hospitality market, directly and indirectly.
"Like other sectors, the hospitality sector is under immense pressure due to increasing operational costs and changing consumer travel patterns," said Mmatšatši Marobe, chief executive of Tourism Business Council of South Africa.
For the first time at HICA, the focus will be on interactive and educational sessions to broaden the understanding of the sector, thereby helping operators and developers to deal with their challenges.
HICA is hosted by the TBCSA, in partnership with the Department of Economic Development and Tourism KZN, Tourism KwaZulu-Natal, and Trade and Investment KZN (TIKZN).
