The city will host the ENS Top Fuel Conference from 2-6 September and the ENS European Nuclear Conference from 9-12 December next year.

The Top Fuel Conference will take place at the Marriott Renaissance Manchester Hotel and bring together leading specialists from around the world to analyse advances in nuclear fuel management technology.

The European Nuclear Conference, a networking event for scientists, nuclear industry representatives and policy makers, who consider and discuss ideas and innovations that will drive technological developments for the future, will take place at Manchester Central Convention Complex on 9 -12 December 2012.

Visit Manchester managing director Paul Simpson said: "This is a great example of local organisations working in partnership to bring world class conferences to the city and we’re delighted that the European Nuclear Society has chosen Manchester."

ENS society and conference manager Kirsten Epskamp added: "ENS is delighted to be organising two of its flagship conferences in the city of Manchester. The Dalton Institute, part of the University of Manchester, is synonymous with innovative nuclear research and nearby Sellafield has played a central role in the history of the British nuclear industry."
