Buckingham Palace reacts to event space and hotel rumours

Buckingham Palace has told C&IT that claims in a new book by TV presenter Andrew Marr, stating that Prince Charles could turn Buckingham Palace into a hotel and events centre, are 'speculation'.

Marr, who has written a book and BBC TV series ahead of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012, said that the Prince will relocate to Windsor Castle if he becomes King, leaving Buckingham Palace free for profitable activity.

Marr, whose job has brought him close to the Royals, stated that, although Prince Charles considers it 'bad manners' to discuss what might occur following the death of his mother, sources have confirmed that opening the palace for events, and turning it into a 'government hotel' have been discussed.

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson told C&IT that the reports are just 'speculation'.
