Piggott has worked at Universal World Events parent United Drug since 1998 in a variety of roles including general manager of Ashfield Ireland and most recently in the US as director of operations for Ashfield.

He replaces Gary Dickinson, who left Universal World Events in July this year, having joined in December 2006.

Piggott will work across the events group's Americas business, which has offices in Indianapolis and Pennsylvania.

Graham McIntosh, Universal World Events’ managing director, said: ""Over the last five years Dan has worked as a member of [United Drug’s] ELPs (emerging leaders programmes) and ILPs (international leaders programmes).

"He has a wealth of healthcare experience gained from a number of senior roles involved in providing services to some of the world’s leading healthcare companies.

"This knowledge and expertise will be of tremendous benefit to both our clients and our staff. I am confident that his leadership, energy and enthusiasm will be a great asset to our US organisation."
