Delegates included store managers, store colleagues, store adopters and the supermarket’s National Colleague Council, and featured presentations from senior executives and TV presenter Gok Wan, who used the event to launch his own clothing range.
The conference was organised by Sainsbury's events staff including director of colleague engagement Jacki Connor. Its numerous objectives included communicating Sainsbury’s key business messages to colleagues, who will in turn convey them to the supermarket's wider teams.
The conference saw the launch of Sainsbury’s Goal, Vision and Colleague values, which were presented on-stage by members of the operating board.
Meanwhile, three experiential areas were individually-themed. The Paralympics village aimed to engage staff with what Sainsbury’s sponsorship of the Paralympic Games means to staff and customers and was hosted by executives including company secretary Tim Fallowfield; Our Sainsbury’s village gave staff the chance to try new products from the Sainsbury’s range; and the Christmas village featured a recreation of an Swiss Alpine village and showcased Sainsbury’s Christmas products.
