The event is expected to attract 150,000 visitors between 5 and 8 October, including more than 8,000 guests who will attend the opening and closing ceremonies.

The ceremonies will entail two spectacular shows featuring some of the UK’s most talented performers in a celebration of communities coming together.

Charles Moyle, managing director of Grass Roots’ event production division, said: "We have had a great 2011 to date, with a number of new live production wins and are delighted that Worldskills has commissioned us to design and deliver the opening and closing ceremonies at one of the biggest events in London ahead of the 2012 Olympic Games."
