The event, which will run from 19-23 September, is being hosted at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre and will showcase some 175 exhibitors from financial institutions, application and middleware vendors and system integrators.
This year’s attendees will include Bank of Canada deputy Governor Tim Lane and Scotiabank president and CEO Rick Waugh, alongside up to 8,000 delegates from banks and financial services firms across the world.
"With world events continuing to impact the financial industry, Sibos 2011 will take stock of the challenges going forward, with a focus on four big topics: regulation, technology, the changing landscape of the financial industry and geographic shifts in the balance of power," said head of Sibos Kris Hendrieckx.
"We selected Toronto to host Sibos this year as it is a leading city for economic innovation and one of the top financial centres in the world."
It’s the first time that the event, which rotates between Swift’s three key markets – EMEA, the Americas and Asia Pacific – has been held in Toronto. The event is estimated to contribute $67 million to the local economy.
