The four-star Bedford Lodge Hotel in Bury Road is set to build 21 new bedrooms by the end of 2012. The existing bedrooms will all be refurbished, with a new colour scheme applied.

In May, the hotel invested £60,000 into audiovisual equipment for guests. The hotel’s reception area, the Edge Health & Fitness Club and all six conference and banqueting rooms also underwent recent transformations.

Bedford Lodge chief executive Noel Byrne said: "This is part of our ongoing, mid to long term vision to develop the hotel with the full commitment of the owners, Review Hotels. We’re really excited about the prospect of adding to our existing 55 bedrooms and creating local jobs.

"The latest refurbishment works will offer guests a much more contemporary feel to the hotel whilst still retaining the semi-minimalist vision which we have created."
