According to the Estonian Convention Bureau, the World Customs Organization has just committed to holding its annual IT conference in the city of Tallinn in 2012.
Kadri Karu, Estonian Convention Bureau’s managing director, said: "On this year's calendar we've seen a whole range of technology conferences covering everything from information warfare and security to robotics, e-governance, e-identity and cyber defence."
Karu added that Estonia is perceived as a leader in areas such as e-government – it became the first country in the world to introduce internet voting in national elections - and e-banking; while widely-available free wi-fi also attracts conference and event organisers.
