AECC managing director Brian Horsburgh told C&IT that the centre is on track this year to exceeding the 2009 figure with a figure of around £115m.
The conference centre, which hosts around 600 events and conferences a year, is set to host the Offshore Europe 2011 this month, an event that brought in £44.6m to the region, according to Mackay Consultants. This year’s event will be 9% larger than in 2009.
Meanwhile the AECC is booked to host events into next year, including international conferences for The European Optical Society Annual Symposium 2012 and The Society of Core Analysts Symposium 2012. Musical acts including Bryan Adams and Katy Perry are also booked to perform at the venue.
Horsburgh added: "To be able to quantify this information is a great thing for us as a venue, it reinforces the importance of AECC to the region and quantifies the value to business that events held here bring.
We are proud to make a positive impact on the city and region which we are all part of."
