Lloyds TSB and Sainsbury's helping boost Olympic sustainability

DRP Group managing director Dale Parmenter has told C&IT that he is surprised by the scale of efforts made by brands to ensure that the 2012 OIympic Games are sustainable.

Parmenter said that his experience of working with corporates, including Sainsbury’s and Lloyds TSB, in the build-up to  London 2012 has demonstrated that there is a lot of pressure on companies to ensure their supply chains are ethical.

"This Olympics was very much cited as the most sustainable event ever, and from what I have seen, it is living up to its billing. Companies including Lloyds TSB and Sainsbury’s are ensuring that, in the run up to and beyond the Olympics, sustainability is part of the process," he said.

"Sometimes it’s the really simple, practical measure that make the big differences. Corporates are taking this ethos into all of their own events to ensure the legacy continues."

Parmenter adds his name to a list of industry figures who have stressed the importance of continuing the sustainability legacy beyong the Games.
