Zest chose the five-star Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin in Noordwijk, based in western Netherlands, because of its good transport links and high-quality service. The reason the company wanted to hold the conference was to update the company's leaders about the future strategy of Lloyd's Register and to encourage them to work together.
Challenges Zest director Purusha Gregory says: "Finding the right venue that met the client's brief and represented the company well was our biggest challenge. Also, the logistical challenges of coordinating everyone when they arrived was another consideration."
Some delegates were delayed because of fog but Gregory ensured that transfers were available at the airport when they eventually arrived.
Solution The company's directors arrived during the day on the 16 November for rehearsals for the conference. Other delegates arrived later in the day for registration, followed by a welcome dinner with the chief executive, which was held at the Beach House restaurant at the hotel. The conference, which took place the next day, included a series of presentations and workshops. In the evening there was a gala dinner, laser show and an awards ceremony for staff who took part in a company community scheme. The following day guests enjoyed breakfast before departing for the airport and their flights home.
Post-event analysis Mark Stokes, group communications director at Lloyd's Register, says: "The Huis ter Duin is elegant, the food is outstanding and the accommodation is top quality. We didn't receive a single complaint about anything over the four days our people were at the hotel. We will also be using Zest Venue Solutions for future events."FACTFILE
