Capital Law runs ski trip in Switzerland

Law firm chooses Switzerland's Adelboden for annual relationship-building event

Pre-event planning: Capital Law organises an annual relationship-building event for clients and key members of staff. The company decided to hold the event in Adelboden in Switzerland because it is easily accessible from the UK and the third-largest ski field in the country is nearby, suiting all levels of skier. The Cambrian was chosen because it offered personal service with good facilities including a restaurant, spa and meeting rooms.

Challenges: There was a risk that the weather could have been a problem, but luckily there was a good amount of snow at the resort during the event. Other challenges included organising delegates to confirm they were attending and to provide details required to book flights.

Solution: The relaxed event offered delegates a choice of activities. Most skied all day, but some spent the afternoons in the spa. In the evenings, delegates met up to eat modern alpine cuisine in the hotel's restaurant, or in two local restaurants, Alfredo's Italian Pizzeria and The Adler, which serves traditional Swiss specialities such as cheese fondue and raclette.

Post-event analysis: The client received very positive feedback from the delegates. Capital Law's managing partner, Chris Nott, says: "We will definitely continue to organise this annual skiing trip; clients greatly appreciate it and it provides us with an excellent opportunity to get to know them in a less formal environment. It is also a nice bonus for the Capital Law staff who go on the trip." He adds: "We are very likely to use The Cambrian again too; we have got to know the staff there, as well as some of the locals in Adelboden, which is a small, traditional resort with a very friendly atmosphere."
