Holiday Inn Newcastle-Jesmond has opened its conference centre, part of a £5m pound investment programme.

The hotel, known as the Imperial Hotel before December 2010, now features seven conference and meeting rooms, catering for up to 300 delegates.

The new centre, which cost £1m, is built to the rear of the hotel and brings to an end the refurbishment programme which included the creation of a bar and Fratello’s, a 75-seat Italian restaurant.

Newcastle Gateshead Initiative head of business tourism Jessica Roberts said: "The hotel offers the ideal combination of extensive meeting and breakout space, comfortable bedrooms and very attractive reception, bar and restaurant areas."
