A 12-month project transformed the Grade II Victorian building into a venue capable of holding 3,000 delegates, with over 20 events already secured this year, worth over £ 3.5m to Scarborough.

The refurbishment includes a development of the Grand Hall’s stage and public areas. The venue also features a 2,000sqm exhibition space, with av equipment and a banqueting team.

Scarborough Spa sales development manager Jo Ager said: "It is very exciting to see the finished result following an intense programme of renovation. We have a very busy year ahead and it is fantastic that we can now offer an even better experience at the Spa for our conference delegates. We are now looking forward to welcoming our long-standing and new business clients over the coming months."

The venue now includes:

  • The Grand Hall has been restored with seating for up to 1,700 people. The hall can be blacked out for presentations.

  • The Ocean Room features sea views over Scarborough's South Bay, seating up to 700 delegates in 886sqm of exhibition space, along with a large foyer and entrance area leading onto a first floor terraced area.

  • The Spa Theatre is of traditional Victorian design and has capacity for 570 people including 168 seats at balcony level.

  • Located at first floor level, adjacent to the Grand Hall balcony, the Vita Dome is designed for meetings, receptions, parties, lunches, dinners and product launches. It can accommodate up to 100 people.

  • Adjoining the cafe, the Sun Court Suite is a multi-purpose area of 307sqm which is frequently used for exhibitions, craft fairs and weddings.
