The Energetica initiative will cover the corridor from Aberdeen to Peterhead, including the  £1bn Trump International Golf Links resort.

Various hotels and venues are set to open in the area, and will feature low carbon initiatives.

The project, led by Aberdeen City and Shire Economic Future (Acsef) in partnership with Scottish Enterprise and Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Councils, hopes to bring in £750m in its first ten years, attracting conferences from the renewable energy and gas sectors.

Aberdeen Convention Bureau conference support manager Alesia du Plessis said: "Along with the work to extend the runway at Aberdeen Airport, which will open up new international routes, this all adds up to an extremely attractive proposition for conference organisers and will help to inject cash into the local economy.

"Being even more accessible to visitors can only benefit as a region and Aberdeen is becoming a really strong contender in terms of business tourism, which allows us to claim a bigger share of the global meetings and incentive travel market."

The Energetica corridor will have three parts:

The Eco Hub: Stretching between Bridge of Don, where the Aberdeen Science Parks are located, and the Aberdeen Airport Development Zone at Dyce. The Eco Hub will be the main business area.

The Green Heart: Situated around Ellon and Newburgh, the Green Heart will see investment in the natural environment, with developments to provide housing in landscaped settings.

The Northern Gateway: Centred on Peterhead, this new quayside infrastructure will allow the port to better support the subsea industry and provide support to the emerging marine renewables sector.
