Ocean Media Group is set to launch the UK Venue Show, in tandem with the Event Production Show, at Olympia on 1-2 February 2012, a month before Confex, which takes place on 6-8 March 2012.

The UK Venue Show, which is supported by the Association of Event Venues (AEV), is aimed at the live event sector and will include a hosted buyer programme

UBM Live Confex portfolio director Jonny Sullens said that the from the feedback he has received, the UK event industry is happy to support one annual event exhibition.

"The UK Venue Show is positioned as a possible Confex rival. I’m not sure how much market research was done, but it is aimed at the venue sector, which was particularly strong and well represented at Confex this year," he added.

UK Venue Show event director Tanya Cohen said: "Capitalising on the increasing strength of the UK domestic market means we have an excellent USP, quite simply to give people exactly what they want and have been asking for. We anticipate over 250 exhibitors and 5,000 visitors over two days in year one with lots of exciting plans still to be announced."

Millbrook Events Kevin Leaver, a confirmed exhibitor at the UK Venue Show, said: "We feel that the UK Venue Show fills a gap in the market left by the loss of some exhibitions and significant changes to others. We are really looking forward to working with Ocean Media on this exciting new event and believe that this show will offer us a significant ROI."

This year’s Confex, which took place at Earls Court from 1-3 March, witnessed a 10% visitor dip on last year’s figures.
