The Aloft London Excel is being developed by Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC), which owns Excel London and the ICC London Excel venues.

Julia Harnischfeger has been appointed hotel manager at Aloft London Excel.

She has been working with Starwood Hotels and Resorts since 2007 and became director of operational innovation for the group’s hotels in England in 2009.

Harnischfeger will report into Starwood’s area manager for England Colin Bennett.

Bennett said: "Julia brings enormous passion and organisation to everything that she does and is also able to instil these behaviours in others. It is these traits that will ensure success as we launch the first Aloft hotel in the UK."
