Bowie – who left W&O Events in December and was replaced by Sallie Coventry – has taken on the managing director role at the agency, which works with clients including Schroders, Siemens and Citibank.
He replaces Richard Heywood who becomes non-executive chairman at the 11-strong agency.
"My focus for the immediate future will be on growing the international events business," said Bowie.
Bowie – who was focused on the integration of Eclipse, TMT and Lynton Cooper into W&O Events in his previous role – has spent the past six months on gardening leave.
"It is amazing in the first week back I am completely focused on the industry again," he added.
