The Edinburgh-based agency has been part of the Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS), which organise the awards, for the past three years.

Maximillion managing director John Strachan said: "We have been working hard to green our business and our events and have developed a sophisticated suite of solutions for that."

The agency’s sustainable initiatives have included introducing a biomass boiler and energy-efficient lighting to its offices and developing the Greener Event Management scheme for clients.

The awards were held to highlight the benefits of ‘green-mindedness’ to tourism businesses.

GTBS managing director Andrea Nicholas said: "We wanted to highlight the exemplary practices undertaken by members and the cost savings they have made, and to help educate businesses that have not yet made a green commitment."
