Ben Cooke has joined the 30-strong London and Yorkshire agency as director of business development, moving from Photosound Communications.

W&O Events managing director Sallie Coventry highlighted that the agency plans "ambitious growth" in 2011, including business from new clients, mainly pharmaceutical companies.

The agency has already hit its turnover target of £15.6m for the year ending September 2011, and plans to double its turnover in the next two years, she added.

It will also consider growth through acquisitions, "not only potentially in the UK but the new chairman [Pavlos Savvides] has other business interests in the Middle East and Asia, so through acquisitions along the line we would look to globalise."

It comes after owner Western & Oriental sold its loss-making travel division for £1.5m to focus on its events business earlier this year.
