Tourism Australia discusses Brisbane convention opening

Tourism Australia has told Imex audiences about the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre Grey Street\s opening and the events it has booked in.

The expansion of the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) will launch in October to meet increased demand for small and medium sized meetings.

The venue extension will include two auditoria holding 400 and 600 over a 24,000sqm site.

Among the meetings to confirm for BCEC on Grey Street are:

  • Oceania Tobacco Control Conference 2011
  • Icman 6 (Sixth International Conference on Mechanisms of Action Nutraceuticals 2011
  • Pacific Federation Meeting – International College of Surgeons 2012
  • 34th Annual Meeting of The Bioelectromagnetics Society 2012
  • International Congress of Voice Teachers 2013
  • International Council on Alcohol, Drugs and Traffic Safety 2013

The latest annual International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) rankings saw Australia jump five places to become the 11th most popular global meeting destination, up from 16th place last year.
