Featuring events spaces for up to 1,000 delegates, the Silverstone Wing in Northamptonshire will host its first major motor sport event, the FIA GT1 World Championship, on 3-5 June.

The new complex includes 41 garages, a race control building, a podium, media centre, hospitality and VIP spectator zones.

Silverstone Circuits managing director Richard Phillips said the launch represented an important stepping stone in the redevelopment of Silverstone.

"Building on last year’s successful Grand Prix track upgrade, The Wing is another great milestone in Silverstone’s history," he said. "This building will not only be a wonderful base for our major race meetings, but has the flexibility to accommodate conferences, exhibitions, launches, banqueting functions and experiential events."

Facilities include:

International media centre – 693sqm and space for 450 delegates
Auditorium – 141sqm and space for 104 delegates
Hall Three – 1311sqm and space for 1,000 delegates
