The 201-room hotel’s Empress Suite, which holds up to 800 delegates, features new fittings and furniture, upgraded lighting, window dressings and soundproofed partitions.

The suite can be sub-divided into four sections, all with audiovisual installed.

De Vere Grand Hotel business development director Niki Rule said: "The redevelopment has given the room a lighter and fresher feel. There has been a lot of renewed interest in the hotel since the suite’s refurbishment which has been great for business."

Visit Brighton convention bureau sales manager Darren Johnson added: "The Grand has consistently been a popular venue for large events. The refurbishment offers greater comfort and flexibility and will be a great pull for event organisers and delegates to the city."

Earlier this year, the BBC held a showcase event at the De Vere The Grand.
