New airport terminal to boost Canberra business events

The Canberra Convention Bureau has welcomed Canberra Airport's commitment to build a new terminal, saying it will add significant appeal to the city's push to attract more conference and business events.

The expansion will create 27 new check-in counters and extra baggage facilities and lounge areas. Vehicle access to the airport will also be improved with a two story roadside pick up and drop off system, indoor taxi rank waiting area and a four storey car park with covered access to the terminal.

The Bureau’s CEO, Robyn Hendry, says the new terminal will be a vital piece of infrastructure for Canberra’s business events industry.

"First impressions are vital. The airport is the gateway for many thousands of visitors to our city. To know that people will now arrive and enjoy the amenities of a state of the art terminal is a huge plus for conference delegate," she said.

Canberra is also investing in green credentials in the new terminal design, which aims to be the most carbon-friendly in Australia.
