A total of 400 of Santander’s top performers attended the three-day recognition event in Spain this month.

Santander appointed Venues Event Management to run the programme at the end of last year and activities included a tour of the bank’s headquarters – Santander City – at Boadilla del Monte, 20km from Madrid.

Westin Palace Madrid hosted the event from 9-11 March, with visits to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, which is home to Real Madrid, and the Royal Palace.

Santander event manager Stephen Tomlinson said: "The most important objective for this event was being able to deliver something exceptional, but with a strict budget very much in mind.

"Prior to awarding this event to Venues Event Management, we had studied a number of proposals very carefully. We also conducted an on-line e-bid to ensure we were getting a cost effective solution that wouldn’t compromise the event experience. It certainly worked because the event went really well. I have received a lot of positive feedback from the delegates."

On the final evening, delegates attended a gala dinner with speeches from the UK and group chief executive officers, as well as an awards ceremony.

Britain’s Got Talent gymnastic winners Spellbound provided entertainment.
