The use of technology in events is set to be discussed during the forum on Friday (11 March), along with taxation and this year’s VAT increase.

Speakers include Think Different Events managing director Martin Jack, Futurelab technical project manager Graham Hopkins and Saffery Champness VAT partner David Bennett.

Glasgow model

Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) director of sales Ben Goedegebuure will share details of the Glasgow model, which was launched last year in a collaboration between the venue and Glasgow City Marketing Bureau.

A panel discussion on university event courses and the skills requirements of the industry, and an introduction to the new Beardmore for Health Sciences centre – which adds four event spaces to the Beardmore Hotel and Conference Centre’s current 14 – are also on the agenda.

Education panel

MCI UK’s managing director Jennifer Jenkins is set to speak on the panel, along with representatives from events courses at the University of the West of Scotland and Glasgow Caledonian University.

ABPCO committee member and organiser of the event Martin Jack sad around 100 delegates were expected to attend.

"This event forum is a chance for our Scottish members and non-members to come together and benefit from networking and engagement with other professional conference and event organisers, industry colleagues and other professional bodies," he added.
