Flexibility and confidence key to events business success, hear MPI members

MPI's European Meetings and Events Conference delegates heard they should focus on outcomes and tackle fear of failure to ensure business success during the event's opening session last night.

Business writer and speaker Robin Sieger said the four key elements to business success are: focusing on outcomes, rather than processes; creating a flexible strategy; confidence; and no fear of failure.

"The meetings and events sector over the past two years has seen incredible hardship," Sieger told around 350 MPI delegates during the European Meetings and Events Conference opening session yesterday (13 February).

"But the basics of business have not changed. Focus on what you want, find your core values and commit to them and recognise an opportunity."

MPI’s conference is being held at the Congress Center Dusseldorf, Germany, from 13-15 February.

Eric Rozenberg, chair of the MPI board, welcomed his successor Sebastien Tondeur during yesterday’s plenary session.

Tondeur is also chief executive of MCI’s corporate division at its offices in Geneva and will take over from Rozenberg on 1 July.

Over the next two days, delegates will take part in educational content spanning topics including sustainability, technology and creativity.
