Talks are now underway to acquire a property in Scotland to add to the hotel group’s Dalhousie Castle, near Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the group acquired Llangoed Hall Hotel in Brecon, Wales, at the end of last year and opened Hotel Verta in Battersea, taking its collection to 31 hotels.

Von Essen chairman Andrew Davis said: "We are looking to quietly grow the existing portfolio, as well as enhancing what we have got. We are also looking at more concierge services, such as cars and flights."

Spa refurbishments include The Greenway in Gloucestershire, while London’s Hotel Verta has this week launched a new meetings package at the venue, which features seven event spaces on a dedicated floor.

Von Essen sales and marketing director Greg Ward said: "We have been looking at the leisure, business and conference traveller alike."
