Event Production Show won't gain from Event UK's demise, says organiser

Following the confirmed cancellation of Event UK, Ocean Media has dismissed the opportunity to attract new exhibitors and an increased attendance.

Event UK exhibitors say cancellation due to over-saturated market

Event Production Show organiser Sarah Brownlee said: "We do not see the cancellation of Event UK having a massive impact on Event Production Show visitor and exhibitor numbers as we typically attract exhibitors involved in the production of live events, rather than venues as Event UK did. It is sad to see the cancellation of any show in this sector, but I’m sure the development will result in a strengthening of International Confex, as its organisers have indicated."

Meanwhile, exhibitors and visitors have told C&IT that Event UK had become uninspired and suffered from being in an over-saturated market.

Green Ant Events director Joe Blackman said: "With all these different event shows, people were seeing the same old things and meeting the same people. People are also abandoning spending money on these types of events in favour of other mediums like online marketing."

Event UK, the sister show of International Confex, had been held at the NEC in Birmingham for the past three years, and was formerly known as the National Venue Show before it was bought by UBM Live.

The Event Production Show takes place on 2-3 February at Olympia.
