Downie will lead the company’s Enterprise sales team and work alongside the Active Network global marketing team to implement new strategy and drive growth.

Speaking exclusively to C&IT magazine, Downie said: "Since the Eventia and Active Network Events technology partnership was announced last year, I have worked with the agency’s strategy director Anthony Miller to raise awareness of how technology supports persistent audience engagement. During that time I have become very excited about the impact that technology has on marketing and events. Not only the impact of social media but also the integration of virtual and mobile technology to extend the event life-cycle and improve audience engagement.

"The gathering, management and effective distribution of data through an integrated solution is what will give clients value and help them measure the return on investment from event spend. I believe Active Network Events is the market leader in this space which is why I was delighted to be offered the opportunity to join them and help lead the business forward in the EMEA region."

As an honourary lifetime member of Eventia, Downie will continue in her ongoing role as an Eventia industry ambassador but will wind down the Solutionz by Izania consultancy she set up in July 2009.

"This year I am focusing on the Summer Eventia programme committee and growing the association’s CAP's (Corporate, Association, Public Sector) membership," she concluded.

Active Network made its director of EMEA David Preston redundant at the end of last year.
