
The Act, which was published in draft form in September and could come into play in April, would make directors liable for bribery if their company is found to have used 'improper inducement' to gain a business advantage.
Companies including Pricewaterhousecoopers and Formula One racing outfit Team Lotus have expressed concerns that the Act could make giving tickets or even Christmas gifts to clients an offence.Environment minister Lord Henley said recently that only "lavish corporate hospitality" that can also be used as a bribe to secure advantages would be under threat.
