The ABPCO conference will take place from 19–21 January and will be held at venues including Manchester United, Museum of Science & Industry, Manchester Cathedral and the Renaissance and Jury’s hotels.

The following day, 22 January, the UK & Ireland Chapter of the Meeting Professionals International (MPI) association begins its annual board meeting and retreat, which runs until 24 January.

Together, these events will bring more than 100 UK conference organisers to the city.

Visit Manchester head of business tourism Steven Small said: "ABPCO and MPI are two of the biggest names in the conference industry. Bringing them to Manchester and showcasing the city’s business tourism credentials is a massive opportunity to influence some of the sector’s key decision makers.

"Coupled with our attendance at Confex in March, which includes our own destination showcase, Manchester Live, this is a very positive and pro-active way to start the New Year."
