The improved financial results to the end of June 2010 come as Worldspan Group plans to launch new event services and extend its venue-finding division with a dedicated microsite, to be launched next month.

However, turnover fell to £3,734,106 from £3,841,011 the previous year.

The agency has also appointed former Worldspan Events director Sophie Morris as managing director.

Morris takes over the role from Sally Hunt, who will concentrate on creating a new events-related division.

In past results, Worldspan Group’s consolidated accounts suffered a 14% drop in turnover to the end of June 2009.

Its previous pre-tax profits to the end of June 2009 were £25,560, down from £113,385 the year before.

Worldspan celebrated its 30th anniversary of working with Honda last year.

Worldspan founder Len Wilcock said: "As a 17-year veteran of Worldspan, Sophie truly represents the ethos of the company and its founding values. With her many talents, I know that she will drive the business forward with true passion."

Meanwhile, three new staff have been added to the events delivery team: Chantel Courtney, Louise Baxendell and Lawri Farrell.
