HOW I DID IT ...

Ann Palmer, Barclays Wealth

- Why is sustainability so important to your team?

Having a good governance and sustainability policy will provide sustainable revenue for our stakeholders. It is a shift in thinking from the short to the long term.

- How are you more sustainable?

Barclays has an ISO14001 management system and there are two sustainability reports to the board each year. We are aiming to archive materials in soft copy before they get to print stage and we are looking at how we leverage brand sponsorships, such as the blue Barclays bikes.

- How does that work at an individual event level?

On all our joining instructions we put all the locations of Barclays bikes, which is a way of encouraging their use. At events we are at the front line and can reinforce stakeholder value. The cycle scheme has given us a real tangible way to do that.

Ann Palmer is director, head of events, at Barclays Wealth.
