AIBTM will not replicate other shows, says group exhibition director at EIBTM

Reed Travel Exhibitions group exhibition director Craig Moyes and EIBTM exhibition director Graeme Barnett shared a global update on the opening day of EIBTM in Barcelona.

Reed Travel Exhibitions has today launched a new portfolio website – http://www.ibtmevents.com/ - covering its five shows taking place in China, Europe, the Middle East, Australia and the Americas.

Moyes said that around two thirds of available floor space at the new AIBTM show in Baltimore from 21-23 June 2011 has already been taken.

"It is not just a replication of our other events, it is tailored to the Americas market," he added.

Americas Meetings Week is set to take place during the same time, while the PCMA is co-locating its own education event at the site.

With Imex America also launching in the region next year with a show in Las Vegas from 11-13 October, Moyes added that the AIBTM team was "concentrating on its own event".

Visit Baltimore´s president Tom Noonan added: "We think [AIBTM] is the most important event in Baltimore´s history. It is really going to put us on the map."

Meanwhile, EIBTM exhibition director Graeme Barnett said the 38 new exhibitors at the Barcelona show, including those from Japan, Uganda, the Seychelles, Lithuania and Indonesia, "pointed to an EIBTM that is vibrant and full of business activity".

He added that registered hosted buyers at EIBTM had risen to 4,033 this year from 3,852 in 2009, although the final figures had ye to be collated.
