A total of 75 event planners, venues, tourism bodies and DMCs attended the Atout France-organised event at the Haymarket Hotel in London last night (25 November).

Rhone-Alpes Tourisme’s marketing manager for business tourism Annie Martinez told C&IT the aim was to attract UK event planners to the region.

A total of ten representatives from the Rhone-Alps area shared information about business tourism opportunities in the region, including Sofitel, L’Imperial Palace, and Lyon Convention Bureau.

Lyon Convention Bureau development manager Edmund Hazlewood said that association business was a key driver for economic growth in the city, after corporate business had dropped off over the past two years.

Meanwhile, Au Coeur du Village Hotel and Spa is set to open next month in the ski resort of La Clusaz, said assistant manager Herve Hochet.

The Groupe PVG hotel will feature a 250sqm conference centre and 50 suites.
