Despite lacking wireless internet or televisions in its seven suites and 90 rooms, Zamani Retreat general manager Christian Kurmann is keen to market the hotel as a space where businesses have time to reflect and come up with creative ideas.

"In 2008 I was diagnosed with a severe malignant brain tumour and retreated to a Buddhist monastery in Bhutan for 16 weeks. Having taken part in ancient Buddhist rituals and undergone a profound spiritual and healing experience, I was inspired to develop the means to inspire others," he said.

The resort will offer traditional Tibetan herbal medicine therapies and is aimed at groups of up to 12 delegates. Ayurvedic cooking lessons and fitness activities are offered for team building purposes.

Dishes at the hotel feature minimal salt, dairy, red meat, gluten and alcohol.
