Egyptian hotels to receive £166m injection

The Egyptian General Company for Tourism and Hotels is to invest £166m into nine of the country's hotels over the next three years.

Egyptian General Company for Tourism and Hotels will also unveil a new brand name for a collection of iconic hotels.

The Historic Hotels of Egypt brand is to be launched on Monday (8 November) at World Travel Market at London Excel.

As part of the investment, 1,277 existing rooms will be refurbished, and 320 new rooms constructed across the nine properties.

The hotels to benefit from the £166m investment are:

  • Cairo Marriott Hotel                        
  • Oberoi Mena House, Cairo
  • The Shepheard, Cairo
  • The Winter Palace, Luxor
  • The Old Cataract, Aswan
  • The Sofitel Cecil Hotel, Alexandria
  • The Palestine Hotel, Alexandria
  • Nile Ritz Carlton, Cairo
  • Luxor Hotel
