The phone will offer travellers recommendations for trips, accommodation and entertainment illustrated with imagery and maps, all available free through a 'Best of Britain' widget and app services on the Galaxy handset and Samsung's website.

The project is part of a commitment by the quango, which recently had its budget cut by 34%, to work with Olympic sponsors on marketing campaigns which feature British imagery.

Recently, broadcaster NBC confirmed it is working with the organisation on its 2012 Olympic coverage.

Visit Britain chief executive Sandie Dawe said, "Visit Britain believes that by sharing stunning images, video and information that shows Britain at its best we will encourage people in growing markets around the world to visit. We hope that tourists who consult the Samsung-Visit Britain app will be inspired to explore the whole of the UK.’’

Samsung president & head of worldwide sports marketing of electronics Gyehyun Kwon added: "Samsung is committed to Britain and London 2012. Customers can look forward to consuming exclusive content from Visit Britain on the Galaxy Tab and we hope this combination of great content on a great wireless device will enrich the experience for all of us."
