Japan MICE Year 2010 saw a push in marketing to bring international business travellers to the country.

Land Rover has confirmed an incentive to Japan in spring 2011 – taking in Kyoto and Tokyo – with Euro RSCG Skybridge.

Kyoto has also won business with the Association of South East Asian Nations to run its annual finance ministers meeting, as well as with further automotive clients.

Kyoto Convention Bureau’s international marketing co-ordinator James Kent said: "2010 has been a really positive year for our business growth. To support and maintain this ongoing development across the corporate meeting, association and incentive markets it was vital we expand our team."

In March, Kyoto Convention Bureau appointed Soaring Worldwide to promote the destination in Europe and North America.

Oda said: "I applied for this job because of my love for the city. Now I have an opportunity to share these wonders and I am truly excited at the challenges ahead."
